Protists (ICoLP)
-KONAN GAKUEN 100th Anniversary International Scientific
Symposium Series Sponsored by The Hirao Taro Foundation of
KONAN GAKUEN for Academic Research-
Labyrinthulean protists are used as
industrial microorganisms to produce high-value compounds such
as polyunsaturated fatty acids and terpenes including
carotenoids. They also play important roles in food webs and
elemental cycles in marine ecosystems, and are involved in
some diseases of marine plants and animals. Research on
labyrinthulean protists therefore extends over a wide variety
of academic and industrial fields, and so opportunities for
information exchange among the diverse researchers working on
these organisms are limited. Small symposia have been held
several times in Japan since 2000. To reach a broader
audience, we decided to hold the first international
conference so that labyrinthulid researchers can gather
together to promote future research and development on these
interesting and useful microorganisms. This conference will
also commemorate the 100th anniversary of Konan Gakuen in
2019. We are hoping to gather 200 participants from many
countries to visit the land of Kobe beside the Seto Inland
Sea, where many labyrinthulids live, for active discussions at
keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations.

University.

Contributed papers:
Each participant can give a maximum of two papers as a
presenter. If you hope to give two papers, one paper will be a
poster presentation. The time allotted for each oral
presentation would be approximately 20 minutes.

your abstract. NOTE: English language only, (.rtf) or (.doc)
file, 250 words MAX, NO pictures/tables/graphs.

PRESENTATION
Oral presentation:
A computer will be available for checking your
presentation (PowerPoint 2016 on Windows 10). You can
connect your own computer directly to the projector. Either a
cable with an HDMI or VGA (15-pin D-sub) connector can be
used.
Poster presentation:
The max size of a poster is 48 inches (120 cm) vertical height
x 35 inches (90 cm) horizontal width.
VISA
The secretariat will prepare visa supporting
documents only to paper presenters who register and complete
the payment transactions. Please be advised that the
secretariat will neither act as a guarantor nor issue any
documents to guarantee your identity. Please contact the
embassy of your country by yourself to confirm how long it
will take to acquire your visa, and apply for your visa well
